No Good Deed Goes Unpunished

Thank you, Mark S. Omaha, NE for your review of Mangia Italiana in Omaha, NE.

What you did on October 24th, 2016 was a noble deed. I, too, know the risk you were taking by sharing a good thing. There’s an excellent sushi place in the downtown area where I live that has the best lunch special I’ve ever seen. In my excitement, I posted about it on my Instagram stories. It wasn’t until the next time when I arrived thirty minutes after opening to find a FORTY-FIVE-MINUTE WAIT that I realized my grave mistake.

(I’m joking. Obviously, you and I don’t hold that kind of power)

On a site full of extreme negativity it’s nice to acknowledge an accolade or two. You wrote a Yelp review (embarrassing), adding to their positive ratings despite the risk of it becoming so popular you might not even be able to get a table. It’s a fine line between wanting a business to stay in business and keeping the hidden gems to yourself; truly a selfless act, Mark S.

Fun fact: it wasn’t helping the poor in Calcutta but a five-star Yelp review for a small burger joint in San Antonio, TX called Fuddruckers that put Mother Teresa on the map.

I don’t know why I would, but if I ever happen to be in Omaha, NE I will be sure to visit Mangia Italiana. I’ll even mention your name at the host stand. “Mark S. as in spaghetti (I’m assuming) sent me.”

Four out of five stars. (Due to my principles, giving a review five stars is nearly impossible as I have no respect for them)

See you next Tuesday.
