Thank you, Annie Z., Laguna Woods, CA for your review of Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans, LA.
And thank you for addressing the elephant in the room. No one talks about how unhealthy the food is! Whenever I’m on a health kick, the first thing I do is head on over to Cafe Du Monde only to realize beignets aren’t a salad! They’re deep-fried donuts covered in mounds of powdered sugar! Silly me! I know Louisiana is often mistaken for the bastion of mindful, nutritious eating but we must remember, that’s the other LA.
Jokes aside, no one is unclear on what they’re getting themselves into. Cafe Du Monde’s business is very straight forward. Have you ever seen a line down the block at a Sweetgreen? I didn’t think so.
You simply can’t give what is essentially a donut shop a low rating for being unhealthy. That’s like going to a bar in Florida and expecting not to be roofied.
I do understand the price of everything has gone up but I would be grateful for the coffee, even at $4, for giving you any chance to poop again in your life.
One out of five stars.
See you next Tuesday.
